Desperado Music School is one of the oldest music schools in Azerbaijan. At the school, experienced musicians lead classes for the guitar, piano, violin, drums, and other instruments, and instructors share their experiences in the music industry, passing on what they have learned about songwriting and stage presence. I created new branding for the school to reassert its prominence in the community and establish it as a place of learning.
My logo design for the school focuses on the letter “D” – half-circle with multiple meanings which appear as the shape rotates. The image of the sunrise signifies students’ awakening appreciation for music and pursuing their dreams of becoming professional musicians. Seen as a spotlight, the symbol highlights the school’s mission statement. As a letter “D,” the image stands for “desperate,” which is a translation of desperado. Finally, the image evokes happiness, the uplifting feeling that music brings to us all.
The half-circle of the capital “D” is used through all the site’s iconography, web design, and patterns to create an appealing, consistent, recognizable design.
